I was invited by Rayne Booth of Superprojects and Gareth Kennedy to run a series of workshops at the Seanchaí Microforest which was planted on the grounds of Blakestown Community School in 2020. I worked with students to collectively construct two bug hotels from reclaimed materials. These were situated within the microforest to attract small garden birds and contribute to surrounding biodiversity. We then worked with students to assemble nesting boxes. Sharing my process for encouraging multi-species collaborations, I guided students in laying out materials for their own collaborative sculptures. I then demonstrated the process for making botanical pigments and using everyday household ingredients such as vinegar and cream of tartar, students mixed the pigments to make their own paints, embellish and waterproof the nesting boxes.
