For these sculptures, I built a nesting box and placed a knitted ‘jumper’ into each box. The blue tit family then built their nests inside the jumpers. This collaborative sculpture seeks to address the question: What is it to care for one’s surrounding environment? The final images of a nest jumper with two unhatched eggs and very little insulating nesting material. Some birders have raised the point that it may be a 'dummy' nest - built to fool predators. (It also shows how if a nest is left beyond nesting season it will begin to rot) The work raises questions around conservation and the nature of engagement.
