This installation examines the ecology of the nest jumper series. The table displays the purple nest jumper under a bell jar, eight microscopic slides and two field microscopes used for viewing the slides. When the nest jumpers are removed from the nesting boxes they are often inhabited by other organisms, such as mites, fleas and case bearing moths. Embracing the disintegration of the nest as part of the ecological cycle, I have turned my focus to the other less visible inhabitants. The larvae of the case bearing moths, in this instance, began to eat the purple fibers of the jumper in order to make cocoons or cases for themselves. The monitor displays a short video documenting their movements when isolated in a small container.
